Sneaker Feature – December

We’ve hit December and that means a few things: consistent weather, Christmas and the last chance for sneaker brands to pump out new kicks before the end of 2015.

Sneaker Feature – December

Much like hype around the month of December itself, there is a lot for sneaker heads worldwide to be excited about with some flat out game changing sneakers dropping.

Once again fuckbois will blow their loads over the new “Oxford tan” Yeezy’s dropping on the 29th and once again we will watch desperate losers cop the outrageously high resell fee in order to fit in with their other fuckboi friends.

Nevertheless, tune into SneakerFeature December edition to learn about the upcoming heat you could wear on your feet.

1. Saucony Shadow 6000 “Irish Coffee” Pack

Date: 01/12/2015

Price: $165 AUD

Purchase from: Saucony retailers, END. , Sole Supplier and many more.

If you like sneakers, coffee or whiskey or maybe combining all three, continue to read because Saucony have dropped what they have labelled the “Irish Coffee” pack. With its latest limited edition release Saucony pays tribute to Joe Sheridan and his monumental 1943 creation and introduction of Irish coffee. As part of the pack the brand’s iconic Saucony Shadow 6000 running shoe comes in three colour ways, inspired by the key elements required to brew Irish blend: coffee, whiskey and cream.

Breaking down this triage of tidy releases we can see that the uppers are composed of Wolverine Silke Suede, and soft pigskin nubuck suede with a rich nap that has been treated with Scotchgard Protector for Leather for superior water, oil, and stain resistance.

This means essentially these bad boys could make it in and out of revolver with little to no damage.

This pack is finished off with crisp white midsoles and gum outsoles pulling the sneakers together nicely.

I have never really been a huge Saucony fan but what they have does with the Shadow 6000 silhouette is unreal. Saucony has proven that less is more and that by using minimal underlying tones throughout the sneaker perfection can indeed be achieved. The only issue with the ‘Irish Coffee’ pack is deciding which colour way to go with, if not all three!

2. Afew x Reebok Furylite GM “Canopy Camo”

afew reebook

Date: 5/12/2015

Price: $132 AUD

Purchase from: Select Reebok retailers, Afew store, Klekt.

Reebok have teamed up the notorious German sneaker store Afew to produce a jungle themed Christmas treat for all sneaker heads worldwide. With the camo colour way making its way back to the top, these sneakers are ideal for any “jungle-exploring street wear enthusiasts out there”.

These Furylites are executed in a striking camouflage pattern across its synthetic upper, while touches of contrasting suede at the toe box and heel. This adds a premium touch to the rugged design, whilst also aligning the sneaker together nicely. Finished off with a contrasting white midsole and gum applications along the outsole, the Afew x Reebok Furylite GM “Canopy Camo” will also come with a matching canteen bottle.

With the Furylite colour ways often under fire for lacking originality, I think Reebok and Afew have really looked at what their customers want and produced what appears to be well-rounded sneaker. Although camo prints have been seen a lot throughout 2015, Reebok have taken a bold move by having another crack at it. Although I have not seen sales figures for the release of this sneaker, I can only assume that it has performed very strongly. Stay posted to ensure you cop these military inspired Furylites!

3. Adidas Consortium NMD Primeknit “Black/Xeno”

adidas consort

Date: 12/12/2015

Price: $272 AUD

Purchase from: Select Adidas retailers.

Without a doubt adidas has put in some serious hustle this year with regards to pumping out new release after new release. From Yeezy’s to pure/ultra boosts, adidas have been taking the sneaker market by storm. Usurpingly, before the close of 2015 adidas has had one last crack at confirming their legendary status.

Introducing the adidas Original NMD range, which can be best described as a flux silhouette on an ultra boost midsole, with a bit of plastic and some of 3M detailing.

As someone who never really got hyped over flux’s or ultra boosts these are just another pair of kicks, but given the reaction worldwide to these dropping I can certainly appreciate their significance.

While the NMD release showcases red and blue color-blocked elements to break up the otherwise monochrome execution, the low-key Consortium version is simplified even further. This is characterized by a complete grayscale colour way that incorporates reflective hits on the cage and laces. The cool thing about these sneakers is that it is a brand new concept from Adidas, making them super exclusive to whoever is lucky enough to get their hands on a pair.

The adidas NMD is defined by a micro-engineered boost midsole and lightweight Primeknit upper, which references progressive styles such as the Micro Pacer, the Rising Star, and the Boston Super. This new Consortium version comes with a Black Primeknit upper and 3M detailing pretty much everywhere that grey is featured on the sneaker.

In a recent interview with Footwear News, Nic Galway (VP of global design at Adidas Originals) said,

“When you see the future with no context, it could be confusing. But when you see the future with elements you recognize and are familiar with, it’s much easier to adapt into your life”.

Galway further went on to say “This project has been designed completely without compromise, with the freedom to express how we want to be seen as [Adidas] Originals in the future.” From the vibe of these comments Adidas Originals are just venturing into unchartered waters with regards to what lies ahead for the future of sneakers.

Adidas Consortium NMD Primeknit will drop in six cities worldwide and is limited to 1,000 pairs only. While the likelihood of you copping a pair of these sneakers are as likely as Aston Villa not getting relegated, its worth a crack to wear these limited release kicks on your undeserving feet.

4. Bape x Puma Disc Blaze “Curds & Whey”

bape puma

Date: 12/12/2015

Price: $270 AUD

Purchase from: Select Puma retailers, Bape, END. , Hanon, Caliroots, Titolo, Sneakersnstuff, Solebox.

There is no denying that as soon as Mario Balotelli is involved things tend to heat up. Balotelli has been the face of A Bathing Ape recent collaboration with Puma to produce a Fall/Winter 2015 collection. Comprising of a variety of apparel and sneakers, Bape’s signature ape themed ‘1st camo’ print in seen throughout. It is also important to note that soccer is another inspiration behind the collaboration, with a signature patch featuring both Bape and Puma’s logos in a look to mirror the on-field aesthetic

The Puma Disc Blaze combines the best of the early 90’s sneaker innovation with new contemporary aesthetics.

Constructed with premium leather and camo textile uppers, the sneaker sits on a Trinomic midsole with the iconic Disc Blaze lock system. “Curds & Whey” is features the popular black, green and brown camo print that is seen on lots of Bape’s releases and displays Bape branding on the tongue tab, neoprene tongue and on the heel. Some speckling has also been added on the Trinomic midsole for that extra flair.

For some the technicality of these sneakers combined with its futuristic lacing system is too much and seen as intimidating. But for other sneaker heads the idea that the Puma Disc Blaze is getting the Bape makeover is unreal. Stay posted when these drop because I can imagine they will be in high demand.
